We got June in 1994 in Iowa. She was our 2nd cat and we got her as a kitten. She was always a nervous kitty. In fact, when we brought her home from the pet store, we left her in the bathroom with food, water and litter to let her get accustomed to a small area before exposing her to the whole house at once. She freaked out and completely trashed the bathroom. There was spilled water, food and litter everywhere. She was covered in litter. We cleaned her up and tried to calm her. She ended up having hysterical blindness and seizures that night. After a middle of the night ER visit, the next day, she was perfectly fine. Vet said it must have been nerves. Needless to say, our nerves were a little frazzled after that night too! She also hated going in the car and would foam at the mouth terribly whenever we had to drive her to the vet. She was skiddish and didn’t like strangers or being picked up. But, she was very affectionate to her family. She would pace back and forth on your lap as you petted her, never really laying down and just relaxing. If you stopped petting her, she would head butt you to let you know she wanted more. She was quirky, but we loved that about her.
We had to let June go on March 13th. We’re not sure what happened, but we think it was a brain tumor. One day, she just became lethargic, went blind, she was in a daze, not sure of her surroundings and not able to eat or drink on her own. It was her time. We are so grateful to Dr. Cooney for coming to the house so June didn’t have to go in the car. Dr. Cooney was so gentle with June and so supportive to our family, especially the kids. I can’t say enough about how blessed we feel to have had Dr. Cooney do the procedure for us. June died with all of her loved ones surrounding her. We will miss her dearly and always remember her.
We love you June and hope to see you again some day…
Love,
Joey, Garret, Hali and Max
